CYM Turns 40!
In 2013, CYM celebrated its 40th summer with a number of exciting events. The four directors of the camp including camp founder Roy Schaberg, Scott Lavine, Mark Hartman and Julianne Kirk-Doyle chose to commission a camp alumnus for a work for chorus and winds. Gregory Wanamaker's Adirondak Songs was premiered on the final concert of CYM 2013. The Crane School of Music Wind Ensemble has recently recorded the work and it is available on CD or itunes.
There are a number of camp alumni who go onto prominent careers in music. In 2013 CYM invited Adam Unsworth, horn professor at the University of Michigan, Nick Hartman, horn performer with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Canada, and Brian Santero, trombonist with the San Antonio Symphony, to return to Potsdam and present an alumni recital for the camp.
