Audition/Admissions information
Please contact us if you would like to visit campus and shadow our students in classes and rehearsals. We are available for lessons if you schedule in advance of your visit, we want you to experience a day in the life of a Crane clarinet students.
***We would love to hear your audition virtually if you are unable to attend any of our audition dates!***

Crane Clarinet Audition Requirements:
All Major and Harmonic Minor Scales (full range)
2 Contrasting Etudes (Rose 32 recommended)
NYSSMA Level 5 or 6 solo (for example: Messager, Rabaud, Poulenc, Mozart, Weber or equivalent)
Sight reading might be asked

On Campus Auditions
Saturday, December 9, 2023 (last day to register: Sunday, November 26)
Saturday, February 3, 2024 (last day to register: Sunday, January 21)
Saturday, March 2, 2024 (last day to register: Sunday, February 18)
We know that traveling to campus can be a significant expense for some students and their families. To help offset travel costs, we are happy to announce that we are able to provide free hotel rooms for a limited number of students auditioning on-campus.
Off Campus Auditions
(Last day to register: February 12, 2023)

(last day to register: Sunday, February 11)
If you choose to audition off-campus, please send us an email introducing yourself. Clarinet faculty may not be at all off-campus auditions but would be willing to meet with you over a zoom call or for a complimentary lesson if you choose to travel up to Potsdam and visit campus. If you come during the academic year, we can arrange for you to shadow a student and hear ensemble rehearsals. Contact us.
